Overview

Exercise and Sports Training has evolved exponentially over the last few years. Training for any physical activity has moved on from simply focusing on the exercise on hand, to also focusing on secondary aspects such as sports psychology, improving the quality of equipment, technology etc. One such aspect that has become increasingly important is nutrition.

Today, an athlete who simply trains for the activity at hand, would not be able to progress satisfactorily without proper nutrition as well. An athlete is like a car engine, they are only as good as the fuel they put in their body. For the athlete, their dietary intake is their fuel. Therefore, understanding their unique dietary requirements based on their physical activity, gender, age and specific food intake responses becomes imperative for them to excel at their sport or to achieve their fitness goals.

This masterclass will equip you with the basics of nutrition and exercise physiology. It will empower you with the ability to discuss the intersectional field of Sports Nutrition. As the crux of our course, we will focus upon exercise physiology and the specific nutritional requirements for various types of exercise activities. These will include high-intensity, short-duration activities like sprinting, medium-duration, medium-intensity activities like basketball, low-intensity, long -duration activities like marathon running. We will also cover the nutritional requirements for exercises recommended to lose fat and for exercise recommended with the aim to gain muscle mass.

In addition, we will discuss common eating disorders that plague the athlete community, and how the nutritionist can tackle such case scenarios. Lastly, we will talk about commonly used sports supplements, their science, application, methodology of action, and their real life usability. All these topics will empower the learner to design nutritional strategies, based on whatever fitness or sports goal undertaken. The course offers self-paced learning modules to bring ease to your learning.
